2. Why hasn’t this been true of public parking spaces?
3. What has the private sector done to make parking easier?
4. In economics, “quantity demanded” refers to the number of people who will want to purchase a good at a given price; “demand” refers to the set of these numbers for a good at all possible prices. 1.Why don’t people have to try very hard to seek out most goods?
They are readily available to us via the media and advertisements.
2. Why hasn’t this been true of public parking spaces?
It hasn’t been possible to predict when spots will open up until now. Also, there are often more cars looking for spots than there are spots.
3. What has the private sector done to make parking easier?
They installed sensors in parking meters and parking garages to alert drivers using the app when spots open up and where they are.
4. In economics, “quantity demanded” refers to the number of people who will want to purchase a good at a given price; “demand” refers to the set of these numbers for a good at all possible prices. Explain what is wrong with the author’s use of “demand” in this sentence: “Eventually officials hope to be able to make regular adjustments to pricing on parking meters…so they can spread out demand, raising prices in areas where competition is fiercest and lowering it elsewhere.”
When price increases, demand decreases, so people will be more willing to park in the places where the price is lower.
5. Is it fair that only those with smartphones will be able to take advantage of the system? Explain.
It is pretty fair, because although only the people who have iPhones can access the app, it’s not the app’s fault that not everyone has an iPhone. People either choose not to have an iPhone or cannot afford it, which it’s anyone’s responsibility but theirs.
1.) Because they have phones and other electronics that are equipped with most everything and info a person needs.
ReplyDelete2.) Until this new app was available, drivers wouldn't know when a spot opened up.
3.)Parking meters and garages are now equipped with sensors that notifies the drivers using the app when a spot has become available.
4.)Basically when prices increase, demand will decrease due to consumers unwillingness to spend more money. This says where the prices are lower for parking that's where the driver will park.
5.)It's perfectly fair. They even said they will be making strides to make the app available on other cellular devices.
TOTW #2
ReplyDelete1.)They determine the boundary's of a country and the land a certain country owns.
2.)Because we pay taxes which help fund public education and we do not want to be paying for a student who isn't in that specific school district.
3.)Because obviously they're family. The kids are just beginning their lives and need the adult influence from their mom and dad.
4.)Everyone's opinion on the matter is appreciated.
5.)Education is key, however if raised without proper parental guidance and support life would probably not turn out too well for you. They should not split up,their father should make an effort to obtain citizenship when he is able to. If he can't, at least they're not completely separated.
6.)I would obviously be a little heart broken that I couldn't see my dad as much as I should, but having a good education and opportunity of being a US citizen is substantially important.
1.Why don’t people have to try very hard to seek out most goods?
ReplyDeleteThe internet and new technology helps make everyday obstacles easier.
2. Why hasn’t this been true of public parking spaces?
It's hard to tell when a new spot opens up because drivers are constantly looking for new spots to park in.
3. What has the private sector done to make parking easier?
Sensors can now tell drivers when a new parking spot is available
When price rises, demand decreases, so drivers will be more likely to park in the less desirable parking spots in order to save some money.
5. Is it fair that only those with smartphones will be able to take advantage of the system? Explain.
It seems fair. Even though not everyone can afford a smartphone, the app may soon be available for other phones.

ReplyDelete1. Why do nations and borders exist?
Each country has a different way of doing things and different rules to abide by.
2. Why do states and districts have residency requirements for students?
It prevents taxpayers from paying for students who aren't eligible to attend school at a certain location.
3. Why do these people think Martinez needs to be with her kids? Why don’t they think Perdomo needs to be with them?
Martinez is their mother. Even though Pedromo is their father, he still has a sentence to serve.
4. Why did the school principal talk to the Washington Post about his opinion of what Martinez should do? Why did they ask him?
They wanted to see what the public opinion of this situation would be.
5. What is more important- having a good home and family or a good school? Do the girls have a good home and family now? Would they if their mother separated from their father?
Both are important. They have a good home and family living with other relatives and they still see their parents on weekends. It wouldn't be good if their mother and father were separated.
6. What would you have done if you were Princess Martinez?
She is already doing what I would have done. Since Mexico's schooling is terrible, I would keep my kids in the United States because they deserve the best education possible.

ReplyDelete1.That is business's jobs; to inform you of their goods.
ReplyDelete2. Technically, since the parking spots are usually on the property of the business, yes, they should make it easier. The more spaces, the more consumers.
3. They created the sanfrancisco parking app.
4.He's using it in the sense that the only demand the people have is the parking spaces.
5.People need to anticipate that with the purchasing of a smart phone, they are likely to have the advantages it posesses. People without smartphones need to start thinking of ways to benefit them.
1a. People don't have to try very hard because businesses are very successful at easing the times of customers.
ReplyDelete2a. Finding parking spots isn't easy because there are no businesses trying to ease your search and there isn't technology to d it for you... yet.
3a. The private sector has made this app to make parking easier.
4a. The authr was referring to the demand of parking spots; the fact that if you want to park, you have to utilize a parking spot.
5a. I do think it is fair because it is your choice whether or not to have a smartphone.
1.it hasnt been hard because they know what they want
ReplyDelete2.parking spaces is totally different from goods parking spaces can be reserved while goods its first come first serve.
3.the private sector has parking more easier by making sure that everyone knows who can park wherever
4.demand in his sense is this that everyone gets fair treatment
5.no because everyone can do it
1.Why don’t people have to try very hard to seek out most goods?
ReplyDeleteBecause they are easy to get and you see and hear about them from the T.V., radio, billboards, ext.
2. Why hasn’t this been true of public parking spaces?
There was no way to see them without being right there until now. Also sometimes when stores are really busy there aren’t even enough parking spaces.
3. What has the private sector done to make parking easier?
They put sensors in parking meters to tell drivers using the app where open spots are.
People will park where the prices are lower, because the higher the price the less people will want to park there.
5. Is it fair that only those with smartphones will be able to take advantage of the system? Explain.
Yes because there is no way to put an app like that on a phone that is not a smart phone. And in the end it’s the own persons fault for not buying a smartphone.
1.Why do nations and borders exist?
ReplyDeleteTo show the boundaries of a country and the land that belongs to that country.
2. Why do states and districts have residency requirements for students?
Because we pay taxes to pay for the schools and for citizens of the US go to those schools.
3. Why do these people think Martinez needs to be with her kids? Why don’t they think Perdomo needs to be with them?
Because its not fair for the children to be taken away from their parents. They didn’t choose for their parents to be illegal.
4. Why did the school principal talk to the Washington Post about his opinion of what Martinez should do? Why did they ask him?
Because the principle knows the kids and the family and can give better incite on the situation.
5. What is more important- having a good home and family or a good school? Do the girls have a good home and family now? Would they if their mother separated from their father?
It is important to have a good education, but no it is also important to have a good family and home to grow up in. I don’t know much about how their home was.
6. What would you have done if you were Princess Martinez?
I think I might would do the same thing, or at least try it out and if the kids think it is better that way then I would stick with it.
1. Its not hard for us to seek out goods because we have technology to help us.
ReplyDelete2.Before this app you haven't been able to know exactly where to find a parking space. You could be wandering around for along time until you actually spot one.
3. Sensors are now placed on garages and parking meters to let people know when there is a free space.
4.If price rises, demand will decrease. People will park in the less expensive parking spaces to ovoid paying the higher cost.
5.I think its fair because its just an app. All it does is help people, like urban spoon. The only thing that is unfair about it is for us people who don't have iPhones.
1. Counties have borders because there needs to be a define line dividing one country from the next, to prevent tension.
ReplyDelete2. It makes it so that tax payers are not paying for a school that they are not near/associated with.
3. Martinez needs to be with her kids because they need to grow up knowing a good parent figure head.
4. Because they wanted to know the public's opinion and an opinion of someone in the education business.
5. I think both a good education and family are needed to become a successful person. Because with out a family someone might lack the strive to achieve goals or good grades. Her mother and father should also not split, because it might discourage the kids with their education.
6. I would probably do the same thing as her. Considering the education system in Mexico, I would do anything to give my children the best education possible; even if that meant going to the US.
1b. They exist to show the boundaries of what each country owns.
ReplyDelete2b. It makes sure that the tax payers are paying for schools in their state!
3b. Marty needs to be with her kids because mothers should not be separated from her kids unless there is something super bad going on. Perdomo gets the short stick but the father isn't really as important as the mother.
4b. They asked him because they wanted a real nice opinion.
5b. Right now i think they have it the best that they can have it right now but i think that a strong family environment is way more important than school.
6b. If i was in that situation, i would have either sold my children into slavery or done just what she did.
1.Because modern sources such as the internet have brought the goods to the consumer.
ReplyDelete2.This hasn’t been true of parking spots because they can change in an instant.
3.They made an app to allow people to find parking spots easily.
4.He means that they could see what parking spots people use most by adjusting prices.
5.I think that it is slightly unfair that only smart phone users can take advantage of this system, but they can find parking spots the old fashion way.
Part Two
1.They exist to separate countries with differing political views, languages, culture, etc.
2.To prevent people from taking advantage of the system.
3.Because she is a U.S. citizen and he is not.
4.So the principle could explain the decision. So they could get both sides of the story.
5.I think having a good home and family is more important. I think they have a good family but not a good home because of the area of Mexico they were forced to live in. No they would not.
6.I would have done the same thing she did.
1. Nations and borders exist to divide and keep countries economies, cultures, and people separate, so that they are easier to govern and contribute to the world economy.
ReplyDelete2. Without residency requirements, taxpayers would be paying taxes that fund schools they aren't even associated with.
3. Why do these people think Martinez needs to be with her kids? Why don’t they think Perdomo needs to be with them?
4. Why did the school principal talk to the Washington Post about his opinion of what Martinez should do? Why did they ask him?
5. At this point, the girls education is the most important thing for them now. Yes, their lives would be better now if their family were together, but later in life a good education will take them past that family and set up opportunities for success in their own family. The girls love their parents and their parents love them, once the girls are done with school I'm sure they will still have that bond even though they are slightly apart.
6. The same thing she did, I would do anything I could to keep my family together and happy, but if I had no other options, the kids futures come first.
1) Because of our modern technology, it is easy to seek out most goods.
ReplyDelete2) This is the first app that allows people to find a parking spot. Before, it was "first come, first serve."
3) Sensors are being placed in parking meters and parking garages. People using this app are then notified if a spot has become available.
4) If the price is increased, the demand is decreased
5) No. It's another example of how the rich have more advantages than the middle/lower class. Most middle/lower class cannot afford smartphones.
******limegp74 is Olivia Bartholomew, I couldn't figure out how to change it to my real name.******
ReplyDelete1) Nations and borders seperate countries.
2) So taxpayers do not have to pay for out of district studnets to go to school.
3) Every child needs their parents. She is a US citizen and he is not.
4) They wanted input/opinions from the public.
5) Going to a good school and recieving a good education. In the US, education is the starting point to our success. No beacuse the children need both parents. No they would not.
6) I would be sad that I would not be able to see my father as much but excited at the opporunity to start a new life in the US.
Both TOTW's
ReplyDelete1. Because in our economy most of our goods are readily available.
2. Because parking is more of a chance! The probability that you will get a space.
3. There are now sensors on parking meters and in parking garages. People using this app are then notified if a spot has become available.
4.If price is increasing, then demand is decreasing,so people will want to park in the places where the price is cheaper.
5.I believe that if they offer the advantage to people with smartphones then that is perfectly fine. Most people with smartphones are business people anyways that probably benefit from the app. The reason being they may have meetings and appointments they have to make and can't afford driving around looking for a space for half an hour.

1. This is to keep different economies, cultures and Governments separate. Also we have borders to protect citizens of a nation from foriegn attacks.
2. Because tax payers pay for the students of a specific are to attend school.
3. This is because they are their parents. Every child needs their parents during chilhood. Especially at young ages.
4. To get an idea of how the public felt.
5.Both of these can be important. Having a good home as well as a good school help children in these conditions. And it probably would help if their parents were separated.
6. Not seeing your father would obviously be upseting. However by getting a good education and a good life, I'd be thankful.
